The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has announced the extension, for another 15 days, of most of the restrictions in force to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, but has advanced that a relaxation of social gatherings and of the conditions for visiting residences for the immunized elderly will be introduced.
In this way, in the private sphere, that is, inside the houses, the meeting of two groups of cohabitants will be allowed. In addition, in the public sphere, the maximum number of people that may meet is increased from 4 to 6. This implies that the tables of bars and restaurants can also be up to six people and that the practice of sports activities can also be carried out in groups of up to six.
In addition, new measures will be introduced to facilitate visits to residences for the elderly, with the aim of adapting to the current situation, with the immunization of 100% of residents and practically all social health professionals, and also vaccination of the surrounding area. 95% of those over 80 years of age.
This has been indicated by the president of the Generalitat in an appearance before the media, accompanied by the Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló, after the meeting of the Interdepartmental Table for Prevention and Action against COVID-19, in which these actions have been analyzed.
The new measures will take effect this Monday, April 12, and will be in effect until Sunday, April 25.
